Nero x Half-demon!Reader: Who am I?

Mission 3- What's happening?


    The days went on and soon it became four months. You learned how to read and write and you learned how to cook a few simple things too. You sat on the couch with Patty and watched some TV. Nero would sometimes leave on a kid's show for you, but it felt nice to watch something else besides those shows. You saw a couple doing something but you didn't understand. They had their lips pressed against each other. Were they trying to eat each other as you asked, "Patty, what are they doing?" She looked at and said, "They're kissing. It's what you do to someone you love"

    "What's love", you asked with a tilt in your head, making her reply, "It's an emotion someone has when they have a feeling for someone. Some people say it's deaf, dumb, blind, and stupid. You'll know the feeling when your around someone" You pointed to the screen and said, "So I could do that to someone I love. Is there a different love?" Patty nodded and said, "Yeah there's that love, friendly love, family love, and I think that's it" You sat there for a minute and unknowingly heard Nero walk in and said without thinking, "Does Nero love me?" "Who loves who now?", he asked. You and Patty to look at him as you stood up and ran to him and asked, "Have you ever loved someone, Nero?" Dante had walked in behind Nero and heard the question and began to laugh, causing you to look at him with confusion as Nero replied with a slight blush on his face, "Well, yeah I was but it never worked out" You nodded your head and then went to Dante, who at his desk with his feet propped up and said, "Dante, I wanna go outside" Dante was about to open his mouth and say something but Nero jumped in, "She has learned everything we've taught her in here. She needs to get out for some fresh air"

    Dante sighed heavily and said, "Alright, you can go outside" You smiled like a kid at Christmas time when Dante added, "But, you must be back by sundown and stay very close to Nero, no matter what" "Thank you Dante", you say, "I promise" You slipped on a pair of (f/c) boots that Lady bought for you and you met Nero at the door. He took your hand in his and you both stepped outside. You always heard the sounds of the city from inside, but outside they were louder, causing you to cover your ears and say, "The city is louder than it is inside" Nero just laughed and said, "Don't worry, your ears will adjust to the sound" He continued to guide you to the park and you two sat down on a park bench. Your (e/c) eyes spotted a statue of someone on a horse as if they are ready for battle. "Who is that?", you ask. Nero looked to the statue and said, "That is a demon named Sparda" "Sparda?", you say, "I think Dante's mentioned Sparda before" Nero nodded his head and said, "Well, Sparda was a demon that stood up to his own kind"

"Why?"

"Well, it's a long story"

"Please tell me, Nero"

"Alright, fine. About two thousand years ago, demons ruled over humanity and the humans were pretty much outnumbered. When things seemed like the end was near, Sparda woke up the suffering that the humans were under by the demon king and rebelled against him" You were wrapped in the tale as your mind began to imagine being beside Sparda when he fought against the demon king as Nero continued, "Sparda sealed away the demon world with his own power and defeated the demon king, but his own demonic power was sealed away. Many years later, Sparda met and fell in love with a human woman, which he married and she gave birth to twins" "What were the twins' names?", you ask, causing a chuckle to come from Nero as he said, "Vergil and Dante" Your eyes widened in surprise and wonder, knowing that Dante was a hero's son when Nero said, "However, considering everyone thinks that demons don't exist, Dante's demonic heritage isn't known to everyone" "Why don't everyone know?", you ask. "Eventually", Nero explained, "the tale of Sparda became nothing but a fairytale and people stopped believing" You leaned against Nero and felt him wrap his normal arm around as you watched the sky but before you knew it you fell asleep onto Nero's lap.

    Nero saw it and began to blush slightly before picking you up bridal style and walked you back to the shop. Dante sat at his usual spot and heard Nero's footsteps, followed by him opening and closing the door behind him with you in his arms asleep, making Dante smile as he got up and said, "A bit early" "She got tired after I told her the story of Sparda", Nero said as he placed you on the couch and threw a blanket over you, "She wanted to know and was curious" Nero watched you sleep and noticed you were so peaceful when you sleep and turned to Dante and asked, "Anything on Valentine yet?" "Nope", Dante said, "Nothing yet. I have a feeling he's gonna show his ugly ass sooner or later. I'm having Lady look anything up if there had been any missing children from the time (Name) was born" "And I think I got something", Lady said as she walked into the building, "About sixteen years ago, a couple in (Hometown) was reported to be murdered and their children, both girls, one was ten, the other was a year old, both were taken, but they never found the killer that was responsible for the parents' murder" Nero looked to your still sleeping form and said, "So (Name) was taken from her parents when they were murdered, and Valentine was responsible" "But what about the sister?", Dante asked, "What about her?" "I found out that a woman by the name of Marie (Last Name) showed up to Fortuna out of nowhere and joined The Order and went under Agnus' command-" "Wait that last name is familiar to me", Nero said, causing Dante and Lady to look at him, "I've seen her around Fortuna a few times, but she hardly ever spoke to me whenever I saw her around town"

    "Maybe she knew about her sister and what Valentine was doing", Dante said, "or maybe she and (Name) were forced to work for The Order" "Either way", Lady said, "We need to find her and see what she knows" Little did everyone know, you were listening to the conversation. You now know you have an older sister, but she seemed to have a better life while you were left in a tank for most of your life. You opened your eyes and looked at the three and they never noticed you until you say, "I have a sister?" Nero looked at you and said, "Yeah, but to be honest, your sister may have known what Valentine was doing to you, whatever it was" Nero embraced you when suddenly, the glass to the shop broke and demons that had human skulls for heads, no eyes but relied on smell, clawed feet, and spikes at the end of their tails. Dante and Lady quickly drew their guns while Dante said, "Kid, get (Name) to safety" Nero took your hand and ran upstairs, knowing there was a fire escape in his room he could use while gunfire echoed throughout the shop. You looked back to see one of the demons following you two, causing you to scream and Nero shoved you into his room and closing the door as he yelled, "Use the fire escape, quickly" You opened the window to see no demons yet as you did what Nero said. You hurried to hide beside a dumpster as you looked to a shadow slowly making its way to the dumpster, making you hold your breath and quietly move further into the shadow of the dumpster.

    The growling of a demon was enough for you to know it was there as a scream in your throat choke you as it soon walked away and after a few minutes, the sounds of fighting inside still continued as you quietly sighed. Suddenly, something grasped your shoulders, making you look up to see a demon like the ones inside but this one had wings on it and it lifted you into the air as you screamed out to it. Nero was at the fire escape and yelled out to you while he jumped and caught your ankles. Dante heard it once he and Lady killed the demons inside, causing the half-devil to run outside. "Kid", Dante yelled, "Whatever you do, don't let go of her" Nero held onto you as he said, "(Name), hold on I'll get you out of this" "Please hurry, Nero", you cry out, "I don't wanna die" Nero could tell you were scared out of your mind as he tried to find a way to stop the demon, but there was nothing he could do as it continued to fly. The demon flew for hours until Nero got an idea, so he reached for Blue Rose and shot at the demon, causing it to cry out in pain and slowly descend into a wasteland.

    Once it was close enough to some dead trees, Nero shot at one of its wings and legs, making it let you go and Nero caught you as the two of you fell and the branches snapped under Nero's weight and he landed on his back with you on top of him. He groaned in pain as he looked around. He could easily see you both were far from Capulet City as the area looked like the combination of a desert and a forest that was burned with the sun barely coming up over the horizon. "Are you alright, (Name)?", Nero asked as you stood up. "Yeah", you say, "I think so" You look around and say to Nero, "That demon…it was after me wasn't it?" "I don't know", Nero answers, "We need to move before it comes and gets us.

    After walking for hours, you both heard the sound of something moving, like it was stuck. You both come across a creature known as a Griffin and it's clawed feet and one of its wings were tied up, due to it moving around so much, making you both realize it got caught in a trap somehow. "Hello", you say to the creature, "Are you-?" "What's that?!", the Griffin said with a startle, but looked to see you and Nero and it continued, "Humans, don't sneak up on me like that" "Forgive us", you say, "we didn't mean to frighten you" Nero could tell it was a young Griffin and it didn't give a reason to attack them as it continued, "Oh, ha, no need to apologize. You two just broke my concentration is all" "Looks more like you're tangled up in human rope", Nero said as he took a small knife out of his pocket and began cutting the ropes. Once the ropes were cut, the Griffin stretched its wings out and said, "Gee, you two are nice for humans" "You haven't given me a reason to attack you", Nero bluntly said, "So, we helped you get free" The Griffin sat and asked, "What are two humans like you doing all the way out here? You get lost or something?"

    Nero looked around and said, "We were attacked by demons and they carried us off", you say, "I don't know why but they were intent on coming after me" Griffin just listened to the explanation Nero gave. "So", the Griffin said, "you come from an organization that tried using demonic power to take over the world and after that you found her in an underground lab with no history, no past, and no name" Nero nodded his head in agreement to what the Griffin said. He leaned forward and began to smell you, which confused you and Nero. The Griffin stood up and said, "Well, I may know why those demons attacked you"

    You and Nero looked at him as he said, "There's demonic blood in you. You're a half-demon, (Name)"
